Skills Clinic

Thanks to a generous grant from the City of Oakland, CWO is excited to offer a weekly free Skills Clinic for female-identified* adults hoping to get more involved in music!

If you are. . .

longing to play music with others, but needing some guidance

seeking an accessible music opportunity

looking for an excuse to return to music after a long time away

...we want to meet you!

Our first event will be held on Thursday, March 21, from 5:30-7 pm at our regular rehearsal location (Lake Merritt United Methodist Church, 1330 Lakeshore Ave, in Oakland) and subsequent sessions will take place each Thursday evening from 6-8 pm. All skill levels and orchestral instruments welcome!

Each week, we'll lead a drop-in group learning session to develop musicianship skills and refine common techniques. We'll also schedule one-on-one time and touch base with participants individually to support more directed, personalized growth.

If you're interested in orchestral playing at some point, this is a great way to get in touch with our musical community. If you're just starting out, let us help you connect with peers and resources!

Check this page for updates and details about our upcoming sessions (below), or email us at clinic@communitywomensorchestra.org for more info!

CWO is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for those under-represented in classical music. We especially welcome transwomen and musicians outside the gender binary.
